Author Jack Daniels
Jack Daniels is one of the most respected coaches of distance runners in this country. He coaches at high altitude training center in Arizona . Mr. Daniels has a PhD in exercise physiology and applies that knowledge in developing coaching programs for athletes. He has advised Jim Ryan, Alberto Salazar, Joan Benoit Samuelson, Doug Padilla, and Ken Martin. The Running Formula puts all aspects of training in an easily understood format. His system of identifying each runners' performance ability allows the coach to easily develop individual training intensities for each runner. You can't go wrong with this book.

This book is more of a fitness guide but has a lot of information that might be helpful to coaches. You can learn about nutrtion, sport drinks, running with injuries, running form, training suggestions, and proper footwear.

This is another book that uses scientific knowledge to form training programs. The author covers such topics as how oxygen is transported, energy metabolism, Rules of training, theory of training, overtraining, health and medicalconsiderations, which includes treating running injuries.
